Noticeable Recovery Benefits at 65
I’ve been taking Optimum Nutrition HMB 1000 Caps for almost a month now, and I can honestly say I’m starting to notice a difference. The biggest change for me has been quicker recovery between workouts. At 65 years old, that’s huge — I used to deal with more muscle soreness and occasional cramps between training sessions, but since starting HMB, that’s been noticeably reduced.As for strength, it’s harder to judge since performance can vary day to day, but the consistent improvement in recovery has made my workouts feel more manageable and enjoyable. Overall, this product has been a solid addition to my supplement routine, and I plan to keep using it.

I think it works
I have no medical background so this is purely a layman’s review. I am old (61) and decided to try this because of the “Ensure Muscle” product advertising (EM is too expensive and too high in calories). I’m semi-retired so I do put in a lot of gym time. After about 10 months of weight training and cardio and taking HMB for the last four months, I can say that I’m in the best shape of my life. I’m more ripped than I ever thought I could be at my age. So I believe it works. Can’t be sure, but I think it does work. I’m going to stay on it.Edit 10/07/13: There’s no doubt this stuff works. I’ve been on this since March 2011 and I will continue taking it. I’m now 64 and my physique looks downright unnatural for someone my age. I live in a condo with an outdoor pool and I’m afraid my neighbors think I’m doing steroids. Now, it isn’t without work; as I mentioned above, I am mostly retired, have a lot of free time and spend a lot of time in the gym doing weights, running and now spin class (love it). This is good stuff and not expensive, considering the benefits it gives.

Nearly a miracle pill.
I’m often looking for better natural supplements to complement my workouts, and I always do at least some research into the products to make sure they are safe. I saw this one recommended in a bodybuilding forum and, after passing a very thorough Google search into safety and efficacy, I decided to give it a whirl. I purchased a bottle in late October 2013 and wasn’t the best about taking as recommended (3 a day with each meal), but was pretty good about taking at least two per day. From about the 2-week mark forward I documented an increase in either reps or weight with every workout. I was floored. It should be noted that at the time I was also taking Optimum Nutrition Gold Standard Natural Whey and BSN CellMass Creatine (the latter of which I discontinued in early December).Curious if the gains were due to other supplements or simply hard work, I decided to take a break from the HMB and did not reorder. Partly because of the price tag, the break was a little longer than planned, but I did notice that my gains started to falter after the HMB ran out and eventually I seemed to have hit a plateau. I also noticed that if I missed a workout I seemed to regress slightly and would then struggle to get back to where I was. Finally in May 2014 I ordered another bottle and again, around that 2-week mark the gains became noticeable. They weren’t quite as impressive as the first round the previous fall (note I was not taking creatine, but still continued the whey protein supplementation), but they were still substantial nonetheless. I really like the ON brand, they seem quite responsible, and I am planning on keeping the HMB as a permanent part of my workout supplementation. I also plan on adding the ON CGT-10 since the HMB & Creatine combination did seem to work better for me than the HMB alone, but I’m still very impressed with this product.

Good Supplement, but gets pricey fastHMB is a great supplement, only thing that has stopped me taking it in the past is that you usually need pretty high dosages for it to work. I wanted to try it finally and optimum has the best price and their other products have always been of good quality. I am taking 5 grams daily, which is 5 pills per day. This is the way to get results, do your research and you’ll realize you’re looking at less than a 30 day supply. Not a problem because I the gains I made it worth every penny. Always a good brand. A good supplement for beginners or restarting working out.
I haven’t read any reviews on this stuff in a long time. From my previous knowledge and current experience, HMB is good for the first month or two of strength and mass gaining then it tapers off. Some people may have different stories, but if they have been at it a while, I doubt this helped them much, unless they really up their game and/or it had a placebo affect. I think most research and most users, only get that real benefit during that first few months, and really only for about two months of using this. That doesn’t mean it doesn’t help beyond that, but I am pretty sure for the cost, you have other options that will do you better. I have used it before and definitely got results. I had a layoff for a few years, I did not use it my first decade of working out. So when I got back into it and used this. Yeah, it helped for those few months. After some injuries, I am going at it again, and this is gonna be part of my regimes for two months, once I get through a few weeks of working my body back into the groove.

初めてカプセルタイプのHMBを購入しました。海外製も初めてだったのでどんな感じかと思いましたが、ボトルも封もしっかりとされており、安心感があります。カプセルが大きく、日本でみるカプセルの2倍の大きさで、ベタつき感もあり、やや飲みにくいです。喉を開いて、思い切って飲まないと…という感じです。効果のほどはよく分かりませんσ(^_^;)
