My eye doc suggested Areds 2 vitamins, which are expensive. I countered with this formulation and she was OK with it. I do not expect to “see” any difference in my vision, just hoping to forestall macular degeneration, which runs in the family. I dropped the rating to 4 stars for two reasons: 1) it would be nice if Puritan’s Pride submitted their products to outside test labs for verification, and 2) the pills are very soft -the recent shipment (during 100F weather) came as one giant melted together lump – fortunately with some effort I was able to separate the pills once they cooled to room temperature.5/14/24 update: last time I tried to order they were out of stock, so I just went with the AREDS2 formulation recommended by my eye doc. Costs a little more, but I have more confidence in the product.

Huge Price Increase!
I was really happy to find this supplement. It was a nice alternative to eye vitamins, and very budget friendly. However, I had to stop buying it when the price jumped about 4 months ago by $20. That’s not a typo. I don’t know what was the thinking of Amazon or the company to raise the price like that. But I’ve found the same dosage for about half the price elsewhere. I will not buy this brand again unless they lower the price.
